about me

Teaching ESOL at Hackney College and Spitalfields City Farm turned into gardening at Spitalfields Fam and skill swapping....I was learning gardening skills and vegetable horticulture from the knowledgeable Lutfun Hussein whilst perfecting her English language.

I suddenly had an insatiable thirst for gardening and engaged in a course at Capel Manor College. Six months later, enthused and raring to go I worked for designer/gardener, Alys Francis, maintaining beautifully designed gardens, including Spencer House, increasing my plant knowledge and skills. After working for a design and maintenance company for a year I branched out on my own to maintain private gardens. Whilst still involved with some of these gardens I am becoming more associated with biodiversity, food growing and improving areas of Hackney, where I live.

I am currently studying Forest Gardening at Hackney Marshes Tree Nursery and am running a project on a community space where I live, for residents of all ages to relax, sit in many of the secluded areas amongst trees and plants that echo a forest garden.
